Acne, scientifically known as Acne vulgaris is the condition where by there is over production of sebum which causes clogs in our bodys pores. The sebum is then digested by some bacteria, P. acne, which causes the production of toxic waste products as well as the bacteria over producing. The sum effect will be an infected pus filled manifestation known as a pimple.

With the advances in medicine and technology several acne treatments have been put in doubt and others proved right. There are many myths about acne that you should know about as you set off to cure it: Acne is hereditary and because we were all once related, acne affects about 80% of the total world population. Therefore people suffering form acne need not feel like freaks of nature. Its just in the genes.

There is no universal cure for acne that is applicable to every acne patient. This is a fallacy. People are different and therefore need a treatment that is in line with their allergies and skin conditions. Acne can not be cured in less than 2 weeks. That is a lie perpetuated by cream and pill manufacturers. There might be several creams and pills that may positively change a patients acne in a short period but once the drug wears off, the patient is left more susceptible to more frequent and severe break-outs.

Acne can be treated right from home. With a holistic approach to the root causes of your acne, forming good habits and having a simple but effective face regime, acne can be cleared permanently right form the comfort of your home. However, consulting your dermatologist once in a while is highly recommended.

Chocolate causes acne! That is a misunderstanding of the causes of acne. Sebaceous glands are induced into hyper activity by simple sugars, male hormones and caffeine. Chocolate, the real dark kind, is a complex carbohydrate and does not activate these glands. That being said, some chocolate manufacturers place sweeteners (highly processed simple sugars) caffeine (to addict consumers) and milk. This might cause acne. Just take a few bites of dark chocolate if you have to, but once in a while though.

Acne is recognized as the number one skin problem in the world with teenagers as its more common victims. Acne is not limited to teenagers, but it can occur to people of all ages. Infants or babies are not any exceptions to that.

Causes of Baby Acne:

Baby acne, also known as infantile acne, is not uncommon. Following are the causes of infantile acne.

ַ Excessively oily skin

ַ Bad nutrition

ַ Change of hormones

Excessively Oily Skin:
Although infants usually don’t suffer from oily skin, however, in rare cases, baby acne is caused by excessively oily skin. If you find that your bundle of joy has oily skin and has acne, you should wash the skin of your sweet little baby with warm water and mild baby soap at least three times a day.

Bad Nutrition:
Since your baby cannot pick up bad eating habits at this early age, infantile acne due to bad nutrition is very rare. Bad nutrition can be the cause of infantile acne if parents are not attentive toward their babies’ diet. If you are thoughtful of your baby’s diet, then what is causing your baby to suffer from acne is –

Change of Hormones:
It can happen to infants before their births. Mother’s hormones get passed to the baby via the placenta. Change of hormones can also happen when the baby has been separated from the mother. Mother’s milk is also a source of hormones for the baby.

Due to any of the above mentioned causes of baby acne, acne can occur to babies in as young age as 2 to 3 weeks.

Baby Acne Treatment:
Many doctors suggest not using anything for baby acne, but just mild baby soaps with warm water on the baby’s skin during baths for cleansing the skin in order to treat baby acne. You should do just as the doctors suggest. However, if acne doesn’t disappear by the advised cleansing method, you can try, after consulting from your baby’s doctor, very mild over-the-counter 100% natural acne treatment lotions or creams.
