Water is a vital part of our lives, no doubt about it. We use it to wash, drink, cook, and to keep our bodies functioning at a high level. What’s less well known is the effect that water has on keeping our skin in good shape. Water is much more important than you probably think.

On a normal day, you lose about a half of gallon of water through sweating, breathing, and through your normal daily functions. On hot days, humid days, exercising or doing other strenuous work, or any other active activity, you may lose even more. Keeping yourself hydrated is critical to keeping your cells healthy, which is why there are so many sports drinks focused on keeping you hydrated. Keeping your cells healthy will keep your skin healthy, and will help reduce your acne outbreaks.

When your cells don’t get enough water, they become dehydrated. You may be drinking soda or coffee, but that’s not the same. Caffeine, alcohol, sugars, etc, can actually contribute to dehydration, and worse, add toxins to your system. Drinking enough actual water — even tap water — to restore what your body has lost will improve your cell’s condition. These cells can then function properly, and reduce the amount of acne you have.

Drinking enough water does two things. First, it keeps your cells healthy and hydrated. Dead, dry skin cells can clog your pores, and cause acne outbreaks. Second, it helps give your body the material it needs to flush things from your system. Your body is constantly cleaning itself, and giving it enough water will aid in the process of making sure that it can clean your insides.

Making sure you take in enough water is beneficial to your overall health. It’s hard to say what “enough” is, but a quick rule of thumb is to drink half your weight, in ounces. So a 150 pound person should drink 75oz of fluids per day. Not all of this needs to come from drinking just water, you’ll get fluids by eating and other activities, but you should focus on drinking as much pure, clean water as possible.

Drinking water is but one way to treat your acne. If you are interested in other methods or topics, check out the next page, and read some case studies on people who have cured their acne for good. Click Here.
